Banko-yaki 萬古焼 is one of Japan's most beautiful traditional ceramic techniques. The tradition dates back to the 18th century when the merchant Nunami Rouzan famously placed a seal with the words bankofueki, or "eternity, constancy" on earthenware made in the town of Yokkaichi 四日市. Yokkaichi banko ware (called Yokkaichi banko yaki in Japanese) is a form of ceramic ware produced in the city of Yokkaichi, Mie prefecture. Known for their unique heat resistance and beautiful, almost primitive composition.

Kyusu (急須) are traditional Japanese teapots mainly made of fired volcanic clay of very high quality. The word "Kyusu" simply means teapot, even though in common usage Kyusu usually does refer to a teapot with a side handle.
